Local competitions form the backbone of rugby league in Queensland.
Every season, thousands of junior and senior players live and breathe The Greatest Game of All. For many, it’s a way of life. Entire communities rally behind their teams and favourite players. The game unites Queenslanders like no other sport.
For sheer size, the participation numbers of the Brisbane Second Division Rugby League and the Greater Brisbane Rugby League stand alone. Naturally, the numbers in the regional and country-based competitions are spread thinner, but there is no shortage of passion.
That passion will heighten in September when local grand finals are won and lost. The 2012 season produced many gripping deciders (see the list of senior premiers from the year below).
