Biography

Chris McQueen went from the red and green of Wynnum Manly to the red and green of South Sydney in 2009.

Later, he went from the maroon of Queensland to all white of England, the country of his father's birth.

The Kingaroy Red Ants' junior moved to Brisbane in 2006, and played for Wynnum Colts, and then the first grade side, in the Intrust Super Cup, used mainly in the centres.

"He's very versatile, which is always good for Origin."

He scored a try and set up another in his NRL debut for South Sydney, against Manly Warringah in Round 22 of the 2009 season, just days before his 22nd birthday.

He played on the wing in his four first grade appearances for the Rabbitohs at the end of that season. He missed 2010 because of injury, but in 2011 became an established first grader, still playing largely at centre or on the wing.

He switched to the forwards in 2012, and made his State of Origin debut for Queensland in 2013, coming off the bench in the 14-6 loss to New South Wales in Game 1, and then starting in the second row in Game II and  Game III, which Queensland won, to claim their eighth series in a row.

He also played in Game I and Game II of the 2014 series. In October that year, he was an interchange player for Souths in their 30-6 win over Canterbury in the NRL grand final.

McQueen returned to Queensland in 2016 to play for Gold Coast Titans and spent two seasons with the club, before signing with Wests Tigers. He moved to England towards the end of the 2020 season to play with Yorkshire club, Huddersfield, where he is playing his second full season.

McQueen was called in to the England squad by coach, Wayne Bennett, in 2017, for a Test against Samoa at Campbelltown, a match England won 30-10.

He also represented the NRL All Stars in 2017.
