THE Tweed Heads Seagulls are setting the early pace in the FOGS Colts Challenge competition – having recorded three wins from their three games to sit at the top of the ladder.
They are joined there on six points by the Redcliffe Dolphins who had a bye in round 2 – with the Seagulls not down to receive a bye until round 6.
It comes as no surprise then that Tweed Heads players are currently topping both the Leading Points Scorers and Leading Try Scorers lists – with centre Zac Spring having scored four tries from three games. Fullback Wilson Bennet has scored two tries and kicked 13 goals for a total of 34 points; just ahead of Wynnum Manly five-eighth Josh Bowen-Bowyer with two tries and 10 goals for a total of 28.
This weekend, the Seagulls will travel to Davies Park to take on the Souths Logan Magpies; while Wynnum travel to Gold Park on Saturday to face the Toowoomba Clydesdales. The Easts Tigers, who staged a remarkable second-half fight back to beat the Sunshine Coast will look to take that momentum into their match against the Dolphins on Sunday, while the Jets will be targeting win number one when they face Burleigh at Pizzey Park.
Norths will take on the Falcons in the final match of round 4 on Sunday at Bishop Park, with both sides looking to bounce back from defeats last weekend.

THE first round of the FOGS Cup competition was played last weekend; with the Ipswich Jets, Norths Devils and Easts Tigers all notching wins. Redcliffe will play their first game this weekend when they host Easts at Dolphin Oval after sitting out round 1 with the bye.
The Tigers proved too good for newcomers Carina last weekend, winning 32-6 in their Langlands Park match; but despite the loss, the new side will take a lot from their first ever game in the competition. They will look to put it to good use when they host Norths Devils at Leo Williams Oval this Saturday.
The Devils were 36-4 victors over Souths Logan, who now face a tough challenge to beat Ipswich on Sunday.
Ipswich came out on top in a close game against Wynnum Manly, with two tries from captain Kevin Bell helping his side secure the 26-22 result for his team.
