JUNIOR Rugby League returns to the playing fields this weekend with round 8 of the RDJRL also being the start of selection trials for Rockhampton Junior Rustlers Under 13, Under 14 and Under 16 sides to compete at the Capricorn Selection trials in Emerald on June long weekend.

Selectors will watch over round 8 and round 9 to pick squads to compete in the trails as well as warm up games leading up to the Carnival.

Players will also be chosen to play for the Central Wests teams at the Carnival.

Friday afternoon will see the Under 16 take to Saleyards Park:

1pm                Norths            v          Emu Park
2.10pm            Brothers Blue   v          Cap Coast Brothers
3.20pm            Brothers White v          Yeppoon

Saturday at the Gymmy Grounds will be Under 14s:

12noon  Norths              v          Gracemere
1pm      Yeppoon          v          Fitzroy’s
2pm      Cap Coast        v          Emu Park
3pm      Brothers (Under 18) v          Emu Park (u18)

Saturday at St Benedict’s School will be Under 15s:

12noon            Yeppoon          v          Emu Park
1pm     Brothers           v          Fitzroy’s
2pm      Norths             v          Cap Coast Brothers
3pm     Yeppoon (u18)            v          Gracemere (u18)

Saturday at Rockhampton High School Ovals Under 13s:

12noon            Norths              v          Gracemere
1pm     Cap Coast        v          Emu Park
2pm     Brothers White v          Brothers Blue
3pm     Yeppoon          v          Fitzroy’s

Saturday at Browne Park at 2.45pm Under 18 Cap Coast Brothers take on Norths:

And to round off round 8; at Victoria Park Brothers White play Brothers Blue in the Under 14 game.

On Sunday, the RDJRL Mini Mod competition commences with 39 teams nominated in Under 6 through Under 12.

This year, there are 11 teams playing Under 6 non-competitive games each week, this is a big rise on previous years and shows the growth and popularity of Rugby League in the Capricorn region.

Games will be played at Saleyards Park, Gymmy Grounds, St Brendan’s, St Benedict’s and at Rockhampton High School.

All players and parents are to see their respective team manager or coach for time and venue details.
