THE Queensland Rugby League Junior State Carnival will kick off in Cairns early next month – featuring the best of the state’s young footballing talent.

This year, the carnival will be hosted by the Northern Division and will be staged at the Cairns and Districts Junior Rugby League grounds.

The games will run from Wednesday, July 2 through to Sunday, July 6.

The teams taking part this year are:

Under 13 boys: Northern Marlins, SEQ Poinsettias, SEQ Kookaburras, Central Capras, South West Mustangs, Wide Bay Bulls

Under 14 boys: Northern Marlins, SEQ Poinsettias, SEQ Kookaburras, Central Capras, South West Mustangs, Wide Bay Bulls

Under 16 girls: Northern Marlins, South East Queensland, Central Capras, South West Mustangs, Wide Bay Bulls (this is the first year the girls will compete at the carnival)

Under 16 boys: Northern Marlins, South East Queensland, SEQ Chairman’s XIII, Central Capras, South West Mustangs, Wide Bay Bulls

At the conclusion of the carnival, the 2014 Queensland Under 16 Maroons team will be selected and named. The team will compete against NSW Country in Rockhampton on Saturday, July 13.
