The pictures of Darren Lockyer swooping on a stray pass to score the try that sealed the 2006 series is etched in Origin folklore.

The man who arguably had the best view of Locky’s match-winner at the time was Maroons utility Chris Flannery.

Flannery, now the CEO of the Sunshine Coast Falcons, fondly recalls “that” moment while in camp with the Queensland Residents team on the Gold Coast this week.

Flannery is one of the 49 players who represented Queensland throughout the eight series wins, an achievement which fans can celebrate on Wednesday night.
