Trevor Gillmeister is a Queensland rugby league legend.

He played a prominent part in the Broncos’ first two premiership wins in 1992-93, played 22 Origin games for Queensland and three times for Australia while earning a reputation as one of the most ruthless defenders in the game, and the nickname of ‘The Axe’ despite his diminutive frame.

‘Gilly’ has been an assistant coach at the Titans since their inaugural season in 2007 and kept fit and trim since his playing days and remains in demand for media and public speaking with his larrikin character and knowledge of the game.

Gillyis embarking on 1,368km walk from Townsville to Brisbane to raise $100,000 for a charity close to his heart -Asbestos Related Disease Support Society Queensland – who work tirelessly on raising awareness for the disease that took the life of his father.
