THE Rockhampton Junior Rugby League are now in the planning stages for the 2015 Rhys Wesser “Dream Believe Achieve” Shield.

Last year’s successful carnival attracted 12 teams from across the Central Queensland region and beyond, with Mackay’s Walkerston Wanderers taking out the title to become the first side outside Rockhampton to win the Division 1 final.

The 2014 event also saw all the finals played at Browne Park as lead up games to the CQ Capras Intrust Super match against the Norths Devils.

New Capras operations manager Eddie Doherty is working with the committee to try and secure another home game for the 2015 carnival finals and is hopeful that the draw may see the Mackay Cutters at Browne Park that weekend; as the carnival attracts a good showing from the Mackay region.

Early indications have seen a number of sides returning for the 2015 carnival with title holders Walkerston looking to bring two teams, while Emerald Brothers are set to make their first appearance at the carnival.

The carnival will be held on the Easter school holidays next year (Friday, April 10 & Saturday April 11) and is for players in the Under 14 age group.

Each team needs to have a maximums of 15 players and they will take part in the modified 9-a-side competition. Games will be played over two (2) nine-minute halves.
