A NEW era begins at Vico Oval with the Kangaroos Junior Rugby League Club electing their first female president in Kathy Pau at the Annual General Meeting earlier this month.

Ms Pau is passionate about rugby league and junior development, having filled a number of roles in the club including team manager and water runner. She is also is a proud mother of seven sons who are between the ages of 1-19.

Although a male has held the mantle of president at Kangaroos Juniors ever since the club’s inception 45 years ago, women have played a major role in the proud history of the club.

Women have held senior management positions as senior sports trainers, secretaries, treasurers and registrars.

“The president is still just part of the team and it's a big team effort to run a sporting club,” Ms Pau said.

“The club is fortunate to have a committed committee and team staff with a wide range of experiences and I am looking forward to the challenges and rewards that come with leading the club.”

The Kangaroos Juniors 2015 Executive Committee:

President: Kathy Pau
Vice-President: Glenn Stewart
Secretary: Jodi Stevens
Treasurer: Robert McDougall

The club’s first female Life Member Mrs Sandy Tassell, was also present to congratulate Ms Pau on her appointment.
