THE Queensland Rugby League would like to offer their condolences to the family of Hugh Kelly following his passing this week after battling a long illness.

Hugh was born in 1932 and had a distinguished rugby league career, playing for Norths, Wests and Brothers Cairns.

He represented Queensland in 1956 and 1957 and later was a Queensland selector for a number of years.

He also had a strong connection to the game after this playing days and was the president of Wests seniors through the 1970s and early 1980s. His time at the helm included Wests appearances in the 1975 and 1976 grand finals.

The Wests club pass on their condolences to Hugh’s family.

Hugh Kelly’s funeral will be held at 10am on Wednesday, November 26 at Mt Thompson West Chapel, Nursery Road, Mt Gravatt.
