APPLICATIONS are now open for the 2015 Queensland Universities team that will compete for the interstate shield in Sydney for the chance at an overseas tour with the national side in October.

Both university and TAFE students have the opportunity to apply for this team that has a long history of rivalry with NSW.

The annual Queensland Universities versus NSW Tertiaries match has been set down for Saturday May 2.

From that match an Australian Universities squad will be selected for an overseas tour at the conclusion of the rugby league season.

The tour is likely to travel to New Zealand, with the destination still to be finalised.

To be eligible for the Queensland side, players must be completing full-time tertiary education within any Queensland University, TAFE or recognised College or Tertiary institution.

All applicants must be completing a diploma level course or higher or working towards a University Degree.

Included in your commitment to this team will be a camp that will be based in Brisbane and run from the morning of Tuesday, April 28, until Friday May 1 prior to travelling to Sydney May 1-3.

The camp will be highly subsidised by the URLQ but a levy of between $1000-1200 per player will be payable.

This will include all meals, accommodation, flights and team apparel for the camp.

Playing applications will close strictly on Friday March 9, with the coach for the Queensland team to be announced next month.
