PNG Hunters moved into second spot on the Intrust Super Cup ladder after a comprehensive 38-10 victory over Tweed Heads Seagulls in Kokopo yesterday.
The game was all but over by half-time after the Hunters had raced away to a commanding 34-0 lead.
Tweed simply couldn’t go with the Hunters in the opening 20 minutes as the home team posted tries through Wartovo Puara, Kato Ottio and Stargroth Amean for a 16-0 advantage.
It became 22-0 when halfback Roger Laka kicked in behind the line for the flying Ase Boas, who did the rest for the first of his three tries.
The points eased off in the second half, with the Hunters restricted to the one try from man of the match Boas in the 70th minute.
Tweed put up a much better fight in the second half, posting two tries of their own to Kalifa Faifai Loa and Oliver Percy.
The Seagulls have a bye in Round 5, while Papua New Guinea are away to the Sunshine Coast Falcons.
