The Romano Group Tweed Heads Seagulls are pleased to announce Head Coach Aaron Zimmerle has signed a three-year contract extension with the club.

Zimmerle is currently in his third year as Head Coach having previously served as a player and an A Grade Coach. He coached the FOGS Colts to a grand final appearance in 2011 and then worked in 2012 with the Gold Coast Titans as an Assistant NYC Coach.

The new deal will see Zimmerle contracted to the Seagulls until the end of the 2018 Intrust Super Cup season.

The news caps off a memorable week for Zimmerle, who this past Sunday guided the XXXX Queensland Residents to a 36-32 win over NSW in the annual representative match.

“When the new contract offer was made, I had no hesitation in accepting it,” said Zimmerle, who combines his Cup coaching commitments with his work as a teacher at Palm Beach Currumbin High School, where he is involved in their Sports Excellence program.

“Tweed Heads Seagulls wonderful history, proud traditions and past successes inspire me to continue the great work of so many people.

“I am delighted to be in a privileged position where I can not only reflect on the culture created, but influence change and continue to develop players so that they can strive to play at the highest level.”

Tweed Heads Seagulls CEO Shaun McRae is delighted to have Zimmerle on board for a further three years.

“The Board were very keen to retain Aaron’s services, and I can understand why,” McRae said.

“Aaron’s portfolio as a coach continues to grow. He is a wonderful leader and a very accomplished coach who commands respect in all walks of life. He is tactically astute and extremely well organised.”
