Brothers defeated Norths Tigers 38-34 in the Ipswich Rugby League Mayor Paul Pisasale A-Grade Cup on Sunday.

After falling behind 18-nil after 21-minutes Brothers forced their way back into the game against the table-topping Tigers.

Two quick tries in the 30th and 33rd minutes got the Brethren back within eight points.

When Norths fullback Brendon Marshall scored only minutes before halftime it seemed Norths had regained full control of the match, but a Brothers try in the 40th minute to Tasi Graff ensured the halftime margin would be only 8-points.

Just two minutes into the second half, Josh Leisemann dived onto a well-weighted grubber-kick to score and get Brothers within two points of the Tigers.

Six minutes later Sani Tasi powered his way over to score a try, giving Brothers the lead for the first time in the game.

When Tyson Hornbuckle scored a brilliant try for Norths in the 55th minute, the Tigers were back in the lead 28-26.

As Norths worked their way back into Brothers' territory it seemed the Tigers were turning momentum their way, but a long-range try to Brothers halfback Cameron Picker put the Brethren back in front.

The Tigers worked hard to try and regain the lead but Brothers' defence kept turning up, determined to protect the lead they worked so hard to gain.

In the 75th minute Dave Phillips scored for Brothers on their left-edge as the Brethren's lead was extended to 38-28.

In the 78th minute Norths centre Tonga Mounga raced down the middle of the field to score under the posts reducing the margin to 4-points.

With only seconds remaining after the kick-off Norths were unable to score again as Brothers claimed a 38-34 victory.
