Excitement is building ahead of the QRL Gala Dinner to be held at Brisbane City Hall on Wednesday, September 9.

One of the highlights of the annual dinner will once again be the prestigious Courier-Mail Medal countdown, with the Intrust Super Cup’s best and fairest player to be announced at the end of the evening.

The popular XXXX People’s Choice Award will also be presented after three weeks of voting from fans.

Adding to the anticipation is a new addition to this year’s awards – the Intrust Super Cup Team of the Year.

All 14 coaches have nominated who they think are the best players in the game on a 3-2-1 basis.

The nine positions are: Fullback, Wing, Centre, Five-Eighth, Halfback, Prop, Hooker, Second Row and Lock.

Such is the depth of talent in 2015, voting is extremely tight in every position.

Thanks to our good friends at Stage and Screen Travel Services, each recipient will receive a $500 travel voucher.

More than 300 guests will be on hand to enjoy the evening’s festivities, which will kick off with Rupert McCall’s recital of “Every Sacred Blade of Grass’.

The highly regarded modern day poet has penned a moving tribute to acknowledge and celebrate 20 years of the Queensland/Intrust Super Cup.

McCall will be a special guest on Channel Nine’s Intrust Super Cup coverage this Sunday at the North Ipswich Reserve when the Jets host the Northern Pride in an elimination final.

Other awards to be presented at Wednesday’s Gala Dinner include:

·         Carbine Club Rookie of the Year

·         XXXX Representative Player of the Year

·         Stage and Screen Coach of the Year

·         Women’s Representative Player of the Year

·         FOGS Colts Player of the Year

·         Cyril Connell Cup Player of the Year

·         Mal Meninga Cup Player of the Year

The Channel Nine commentary duo of Peter Psaltis and Scott Sattler will host the evening.

Fans can enjoy all the glitz and glamour by tuning into the livestream on QRL.com.au throughout the evening.

Full details will be provided shortly.
