Clayton Sharpe will on Sunday become the first match official to referee four-straight Intrust Super Cup grand finals.

Sharpe was today appointed to control Sunday’s decider between the Townsville Blackhawks and Ipswich Jets at Suncorp Stadium.

The match will be 36-year-old Gladstone product’s 193rd Cup game and will see him equal Tony Maksoud’s long-standing record of five grand finals.

Sharpe, a current member of the Brisbane Rugby League Referees association, refereed his first Cup grand final in 2009 between the Sunshine Coast and Northern Pride.

He will be supported on the lines by Nick Morel and Peter Anderson. Michael Gordon is the standby referee.

Ben Watts was today appointed to referee the FOGS Colts Challenge premiership decider between Wynnum Manly Seagulls and Burleigh Bears.

It will be his first FOGS Colts grand final. He has previously controlled the GIO National U18 Schoolboys semi final (2014), Mal Meninga grand final (2013).
