The Queensland Rugby League extends its sympathies to the family of Steve Calder, who passed away late last week aged 63.

A highly-respected former player and coach, Calder won the prestigious Rothmans Medal while playing for Norths Devils in 1975 and played a key role in Darren Lockyer’s development during his coaching tenure at the Broncos.

With a burning passion for the game and its people, Calder served Men of League with distinction as the organisation’s inaugural state chairman until illness forced him to stand down.
