Brisbane has become a hive of activity in the lead up to the Harvey Norman Rugby League All Stars match taking place at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.

Players from all the teams – including the NRL All Stars, Women’s, Touch and Under 16 sides – have been out and about taking part in various activities out in the community.

The festival of football will kick off proper on Friday night (February 12) with the Murri v Koori Interstate Challenge being played at Easts Carina Leagues Club (Creek Road, Carina).

Presented by the Arthur Beetson Foundation, this match will see the winner of Queensland’s Murri Carnival the Southern Dingoes face off against the victors of the Koori Knock-Out Redfern All Blacks.

Australian Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga will be present and will do the coin toss for the game.

Always a competitive match-up – this game will be the highlight of an already busy day of activity that will feature two other games as well as clinics for the kids.

There will also be a Touch Football match between the Touch Indigenous All Stars and the Touch All Stars at 4pm followed by the Gyemore Shield game between the Brisbane Natives and Cherbourg Hornets.

Named in honour of the Gyemore family who had members play in both sides – this is a special match to the people of the Cherbourg area.

If you can’t make it to the venue tomorrow, the Gyemore Shield match will be available to view via livestream. CLICK HERE TO WATCH.

As a Deadly Choices community event, it is a drug, alcohol, tobacco and sugar-free event that promote wellbeing and healthy lifestyles.

To cap off an already packed schedule – there will also be a jersey presentation with the Indigenous All Stars (men’s team) before the kick-off of the main game.

The jerseys will be presented by Uncle Lionel Morgan who was the first Indigenous Australian to play for Australia, Senator Glenn Lazarus (who helped secure the funding for this year’s Queensland Murri Carnival) and former Maroons and Cherbourg legend Steve Renouf.

Fans are encouraged to get there early to enjoy the community events, activities and matches commencing from 3pm.
