Queensland selector Darren Lockyer has recently been added to the Australian Kangaroos selection panel and he spoke to QRL TV about his new national role.

The Australian side to face New Zealand in the May Test match will be announced later today - with Lockyer saying he approached the selection process for both the Queensland and Australian sides in a similar way.

Lockyer also had high praise for Maroons skipper Cameron Smith who - if all goes to plan - will break his Origin appearence record this year of 36 games for Queensland.
