The Ipswich Jets rugby league club are supporting the Not Now, Not Ever anti domestic violence campaign. Domestic Violence Action Centre general manager Gabrielle Borggaard and community development worker Heather Ellis with Jets players.

This season, the Ipswich Jets have been involved in a number of community-focused events and campaigns – and have been especially active in promoting awareness around the issue of domestic and family violence.

The club have been wearing the Queensland Government’s “Not Now, Not Ever” slogan on the back of their off-field apparel (pictured) as they try to create awareness around the domestic and family violence issue that affects many people in the community.

To help support this cause, there are a number of events coming up this month.

This afternoon, members of the club (including the players) will take part in the Walk Against Domestic Violence event in Ipswich and they encourage supporters to join in.

The walk will occur at D’Arcy Doyle Place (116 Brisbane Street, Ipswich) and is inclusive of all genders.

Later this month, the Jets will also be hosting their annual Ladies Afternoon of Indulgence event at the North Ipswich Reserve.

This event on May 14 is to raise money and awareness for the Domestic Violence Action Centre as part of the club’s Women in League game in Round 14.

That weekend also coincides with the QRL’s Indigenous Appreciation Round, so the club will also celebrate the contribution of Indigenous women to Ipswich Rugby League as they have been blessed with a couple of outstanding leaders in our community like Jodie Elder, who is the long-time chair of Redbank Plains Bears.

While it is all for a good cause – those who come along for the afternoon will get to enjoy a fun catch-up with other women in the community.

It will be an afternoon of wine, canapes and pampering! There will be massage and nail technicians, hairdressers, skin care and beauty technicians on hand to look after their every need at this event.

There will also be master classes this year that will share tips on the trends for this year, skin care tricks, hair care and the latest fashion trends. All guest will also walk away with a gift bag valued at over $80.

The Ipswich Jets Afternoon of Indulgence event will be held on May 14 from 12-3.30pm and tickets are available now for $45. A table for 10 is available for $400.

All money raised on the day goes to the Domestic Violence Action Centre and will help to educate the community that we must all take a Not Now Not Ever stand.
