A double header at Carina’s Leo Williams Oval headlines Round 5 of the Brisbane Rugby League.

Carina take on Gaters in the first of the two-match card before Easts meet Normanby.

With the Intrust Super Cup taking the week off due to the annual interstate residents representative fixture, plenty of fringe Cup players are in action in the BRL.

The Tigers have named three players in their backline who have played in the top grade this season.

Custodian Leon Ellia-Niukore and centre pairing Jacob Paul and Whetu Austin have all tasted Intrust Super Cup, while the experienced Liam McDonald lines up at prop.

The Hounds have several Souths Logan affiliated players, including fullback Jonathon Kent, five-eighth Jack Walters and hulking prop Tikiko Noke.

Normanby pushed West Brisbane to the final minute at Purtell Park last Saturday, but were unable to clinch the win.

Meanwhile, Redcliffe travel to Kitchener Park to take on a Wynnum Manly Redland City side fresh from an upset win over Gaters.

In the other Round 5 match, Valleys Diehards host Logan Brothers with both clubs keen to register their second win of the year.
