Runaway Bay Seagulls v Tugun Seahawks

The match of the round will see the Runaway Bay Seagulls play the Tugun Seahawks at Bycroft Oval. With the Seagulls and the Seahawks both coming off a loss from last weekend, they will equally be hungry to get a win this week at Bycroft Oval. The Seahawks are nursing few injuries in the lead up to the weekend, coach Martin Griese knows the Seagulls are well prepared for what will be a tough game ahead. Griese said “so long as we stick to our game plan, I will be happy with the boy’s performance”. After losing last weekend against Burleigh, the Seagulls will be striving for a win to maintain their ladder position. Training hard to ensure the boys are well prepared for the wraths of the Seahawks, the Seagulls are excited for the clash against one of the top teams in the competition.

Tweed Heads Seagulls v Burleigh Bears

The top-of-the table clash saw the Seagulls soar over the Tugun Seahawks last week at Piggabean Sports. The Seagulls will hope to secure another win when they take on the unpredictable Bears. Coach Clint Barends said he was pleased with the team’s composure and is excited about taking on Burleigh who always put up a good fight. The Bears are in full swing with no injuries and another win under their belt. Working on their completion rates and attacking shape, the team is excited for what the weekend holds against a top team such as the Tweed Heads Seagulls. Bears coach Matt Foster said “as the team improves, each week it will be interesting to see how we match up against the Seagulls as they are the bent mark for the competition at the moment.”

Bilambil Jets v Ormeau Shearers

The Shearers get their first win of the season and are in high spirits in the lead up to this week’s clash against the Jets. Although the Shearers had a major loss in their forward pack, they have proven to be even more determined to get a win and get rewarded for weeks of hard training and preparation. As Bilambil continually battle to secure a win for the season, this week will be no different as they take on the Shearers. Returning back from injury last week, captain and stand out player Mitch Spackman, forward Ben Rigney and Chris Rigney showed their strength in the centres and assisted in driving the team forward. The Jets week in and week out work hard to improve and have a good work ethic. A tough match this will be as both the Jets and the Shearers try to climb the ladder.

Currumbin Eagles v Southport Tigers

Nursing a couple of injuries after their physical battle against the Ormeau Shearers, the Currumbin Eagles are putting in the hard yards to put up a fight against the strong Southport Tigers. Coach James Griffiths was not pleased as the boys lacked discipline and struggled to maintain possession over the weekend. Griffiths says “we need to be prepared as the Tigers are well coached and need to rectify the errors that were made last weekend”. As a couple players return from injury the Tigers are looking positive in the lead up to this weekend’s clash against the Eagles. The Eagles will have to look out for Dylan Lagerstorm and Regan Muir-Ogle from the Tigers as they assist with completing set plays. Co-coach Mick Esdale is pleased that everyone is working hard and doing their individual jobs on the field which contributes to the overall success of the team. Although the Tigers are optimistic with their efforts in the lead up to the weekend, their track record against Currumbin at home may prove to be challenging.

Good Luck to all teams this weekend!
