Dolphins too strong for Norths

By QRL Media

Although it has been weeks in the making – Redcliffe’s first appearance at home at Dolphin Oval was worth the wait for home fans – who saw their team outclass the Devils 52-10 on Sunday.

Buoyed by good home support – the Dolphins flew out to a 28-0 lead at halftime, running in five tries to Shane Pumipi, Tyson Andrews, Jonus Pearson, Rulon Nutira and Daniel Randall.

They would score one more soon after the break thanks to Jack Ahearn, before Norths were able to get on the board thanks to fullback Jack Makin who chased through a kick ahead.

The Devils were able to cross once more in the match to get their score to double figures – but were unable to stop the tide of points from a Redcliffe side that stuck to their game plan to bounce back in style following a frustrating Round 10 loss to the Northern Pride.

Redcliffe coach Adam Mogg told Quest News he was pleased with his side’s defence – and that the scoreline didn’t fully reflect the game.

“It was a very good game of footy all-round in the first half. Norths were really good with their completions. It wasn’t like they didn’t turn up,” he said.

“Our defence was really good. I’m really happy with how our whole defensive line was working together.”

Next week – the Dolphins face the Burleigh Bears in what is shaping as a classic contest, while the Devils will be at home to the Tweed Heads Seagulls.
