Late try secures Magpies one point against Cutters

by QRL Media

A late attacking play has once again saved the Souths Logan Magpies from defeat, with a Dan Tamou try in the closing stages of the match securing a draw for the home side against the Mackay Cutters.

For the Cutters - while it was an improvement on their heavy defeat at the hands of Townsville in Round 11 - it was frustrating for the fans to see their chance of a second win slip away.

However, the Magpies had in fact scored more tries in the match (four to Souths Logan and three to Mackay) - but superior goal kicking from Cutters fullback Liam Taylor kept the visitors in front for much of the match.

Taylor scored more than half of his side's points in the match, slotting three conversions and opening the try scoring tally Mackay at well.

However, as they have shown on numerous occasions this year - including in Round 11 where they snatched a draw against the Falcons - the Magpies are a difficult team to shake.

The Cutters will next up face off against the CQ Capras, while Souths Logan will travel to PNG to play the Hunters.
