Tigers bounce back against Tweed Heads

The Easts Tigers bounced back from last weekend's loss to Burleigh in style by outclassing Tweed Heads at Suzuki Stadium on Saturday.
Buoyed by their home crowd, the Tigers held the Seagulls scoreless in the first half and ran in four early tries of their own, with winger Leon Ellia-Niukore getting things started in only the second minute of the match.
Goal kicking however proved difficult for Easts and they could only convert one of their four attempts in the opening half to give them an 18-0 lead at the halftime break.
In the second half, the Gulls came out committed to turn their fortunes around and they were able to get on the board when Leva Li took an intercept to run almost the length of the field to score in the opening minute.
However, it took them a further 20 minutes before they were able to score again, this time from Shannon Walker who had plenty of work to after chasing a Sam Irwin chip ahead.
With the Seagulls mounting a comeback and trailing only by eight points, Javarn White took the sting out of the contest by running in two late tries within the final 10 minutes of the match. His second was particularly impressive, sprinting down to get a touch on the ball before it went over the dead ball line.
Next week, the Tigers travel to the Sunshine Coast to face the Falcons, while the Seagulls are at home to the Burleigh Bears in the Channel 9 TV game.
