The Norths Devils and Central Queensland Capras travelled to Bundaberg in Round 15 to play their match in front a good Central Queensland crowd.
The “home side” the Devils took the travel in their stride and put on 36 unanswered points going into halftime.
The Capras however made a decent charge in the second half with the final score ending in a 40-24 win to the Devils.
Norths coach Mark Gliddon said he was pleased with his side’s performance and wished the first half did not have to come to an end.
“This would have to be the best footy we have played all year and the players really worked hard,” Gliddon said.
“Our previous game against Ipswich last week, we were not able to defend and complete well.
“This game, we were able to put the two together to attack and defend really well.
“They guys played really good footy and it was a pleasing win and we were happy to get the two points.”
Devils fullback Luke Pollock scored a double to assist his side with the win and Gliddon thought this was his best performance of the year.
“Luke actually got the players player this weekend and it was well deserved,” Gliddon said.
“The last four weeks he has been playing really well and it definitely showed in this game.”
The Devils will host the PNG Hunters this weekend and Gliddon will not be taking this game lightly.
“They are a team that can attack from anywhere and they can score a full-length try,” Gliddon said.
“They are a good team, but they are much better at home. They eat, sleep and drink footy so we will need to be at our best.
“Our defence will need to be good and our completions rate will need to be high. You cannot afford to give them any easy ball.”
