Vale William “Bill” Duguid
William John Duguid was born in Tambo on April 24, 1942. He played local football as a hooker before moving to Toowoomba. He played for Newtown undefeated Under 16 premiership team.
He then moved back to North Queensland settling in Mackay. He was president of the Mackay Rugby League when they won the State League in 1993/94. He received life membership of the Mackay Rugby League.
Bill was an inaugural board member of the North Queensland Cowboys (1995) when they were admitted to the NSWRL competition.
He returned to Rockhampton in 2002 as publican of the Fitzroy Hotel and was president of the Rockhampton Rugby League 2003 to 2008.
He was a member of the Rockhampton Leagues’ Club board 2004 to 2009.
Bill’s health declined in recent years before passing, on May 19, 2016 aged 74 years.

1962 – Newtown reserve grade premiers defeating All Whites 7 – 2. Denis Garvey played in this team also.
1963 – Valleys. Represented Toowoomba v New Zealand. School teacher at Chinchilla.
1964 – Roma Wattles. Represented North West.
1965 – Dalby Brothers captain coach. School teacher in Dalby.
1966 – Valleys Toowoomba. Represented Toowoomba v Great Britain.
1967 – Natives Bundaberg. School teacher at Christian Brothers.
1968 – Trialled for Sydney Parramatta. QRL enforced a transfer fee of $1750. Worked for Education Department as a swimming instructor at Parramatta.
1969 – Cunnamulla captain coach. (Western League with Quilpie, Thargomindah and Augathella)
1970 - 1971 – Lower Herbert captain coach. (v Lifesavers, Brothers, Wallaman); played Foley Shield for Herbert River (v Eacham, Cairns, Innisfail, Tully)
1972 – Toowoomba Valleys premiership team.
1973 – Rockhampton Railways captain coach. Premiers. Teacher at Saint Stanislaus.
1975-1976 Rockhampton Railways captain coach. Premiers. Publican at Central and Anchor Hotels.
1977 – Rockhampton Representative non playing coach.
