The XXXX Queensland Rangers will be hoping to continue their dominance over the NSW Ron Massey Cup side when they meet at Pizzey Park tomorrow (July 24).

The Rangers and NSW teams have been preparing in camp this past week and there is plenty of talent in both sides, which will see some strong competition on the field that will feature the continuing rivalry between the two states.

“When you put that maroon jersey on, you always want to do it proud, play with discipline and putting your best foot forward,” Rangers coach Craig Grauf said.

“This is what we will be doing on Sunday and hopefully we can continue the dominance.

“There is nothing better than winning for Queensland and we will want to continue that dominance and keep the good run going.”

With the Rangers being in camp since Tuesday, Grauf is very pleased with the way his side has come together and is also impressed with the talent in his side.

“It is pleasing as a coach when you have 18 men from different backgrounds who can come together so quickly and play so naturally together,” Grauf said.

“We have a good mix of bodies, with the oldest being 34 and the youngest 21. There is speed on the outside, big bodies in the middle and a great halves combination,”

“There is a very high level of skill and these players will have the ability to go further in the future. I am hoping they will be able to show that on Sunday.”

The last time these two sides met last year in Coffs Harbour, the Rangers were strong in attack and unyielding in defence for the entirety of the game which they won 32-0.

The Rangers Maeli Seve and Jason Wardrop, will be backing up again in this year’s side and will be hoping to replicate the performance of last year.

Rugby league fans on the Gold Coast can watch all the action live, with the kick off at 4pm this Sunday at Pizzey Park. The QRL will provide score updates via QRL Live.
