With the finals only one round away, the Redcliffe Dolphins have made their bid for the minor premiership with a 42-nil win over the Central Queensland Capras.

With a half-time score 6-nil, the Dolphins came back stronger in the second-half scoring an astonishing seven tries to ensure they got the two points.

“It was a solid performance, we didn’t execute well in the first half but we did defend really well,” Dolphins coach Adam Mogg said.

“Holding a team to zero is always pleasing. With no disrespect to the Capras, we were not tested as much as we are going to be in the upcoming weeks.”

The Dolphins Curtis Johnston and Christian Hazard both scored double tries to help their team secure victory but Mogg could not praise his entire side enough.

“These two did play really well, but everyone played really well. Their defence was good and as the finals come up the boys are heading in the right direction,” Mogg said.

As the regular season will finish this weekend the Dolphins are currently sitting in the top spot on the ladder and they clear the Burleigh Bears by only one point.

The Dolphins will be playing for a minor premiership and also a home semi-final this weekend, which will make them a tough opponent.

The Dolphins will host the Tweed Heads Seagulls this weekend and they will be preparing for a difficult game.

The Seagulls have always been tough opponents as the season wraps up and aim for finishing the season off winning.

“We will have to make sure we prepare well this weekend as we know what the Seagulls can produce,” Mogg said.

“We are playing for a home semi-final and we will need to prepare well and do the things we know we can do.”
