The Queensland Rugby League have announced the appointments for the Queensland Representative Murri Under 15 / Under 16 and the Queensland Murri Women’s Team for the 2016 / 2017 seasons.
The Queensland Representative Murri Under 15 / Under 16 team will be selected from the upcoming Arthur Beetson Foundation Queensland Murri Carnival. The carnival is being held next week (from September 21-24, 2016) at Dolphin Oval.
The Queensland Representative Murri Under 15 / Under 16 coaching team for the 2016 / 2017 season are:
- Head Coach: Jim Stevens
- Assistant Coach: Keiron Lander
- Team Manager: Gary Halliday
- Head Trainer: Ron Tasker
- Sports Trainer: Dwayne Kangan
- Mentor/Trainer: Leo Dynevor
Queensland Murri Women
The carnival will also feature a Women’s division and from here, players will be selected for the Queensland Women’s Murri 2016/17 team. In addition to selections from this carnival, a further addition of players will be selected following the staging of the upcoming Zenedth Kes Cup being held in mid-October.
The selected Queensland Murri Women’s players will be supported with fitness and training programs by the QRL and NRL in preparation for a Queensland v NSW Indigenous Women’s trial camp on November 5-6 in Sydney.
From this trial camp and game; a position in the National Indigenous Women’s All Stars program (guided by head coach Dean Widders) will be up for grabs.
The Queensland Women’s Murri Team will be supported and prepared with the appointment of Ben Jeffries and assisted by Teresa Anderson.
