The Mackay Cutters recently announced their new principal sponsor; local contracting company QCCS.

In a ground breaking development, QCCS will share its sponsorship with Mackay Regional Suicide Prevention Network in order to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention.

QCCS Managing Director Craig Bogaarts said his company was proud to take on the coveted role of naming rights sponsor for the Cutters and take advantage of such a meaningful community partnership.

“The Mackay Cutters have experienced a difficult season in 2016, but after lengthy conversations with club’s management, I am confident that the club is going to go from strength to strength in coming seasons and QCCS, like the Mackay Cutters, is a resilient company and together we are a great fit,” Mr Bogaarts said.

“The strong link that is being forged between the QCCS Mackay Cutters and Mackay Region Suicide Prevention Network (MRSPN) is such an important one for our community and I knew our company had to be a part of it.”

The principal sponsorship deal will begin in 2017 and the team will not only feature the QCCS logo on their jerseys, they will also wear the Mackay Regional Suicide Prevention Network logo across their hearts.

QCCS Mackay Cutters CEO Troy Rovelli said the club was delighted a local business has put their hand up to support not only the Cutters, but also the Mackay Regional Suicide Prevention Network.

“Craig and QCCS team have been supporters of the Cutters and various other local sporting teams in the Mackay region for a number of years and are extremely proactive about the prevention and intervention of mental health issues,” Mr Rovelli said.

“This commitment is 100% reflective of the core values and fabric of the QCCS Cutters and supports the fundamentals of our new Change the Game initiative we are implementing in 2017.”

Mr Rovelli said Change the Game was a community-based initiative which allowed locals to become part of the QCCS Mackay Cutters family and would help the club tackle mental health head on.

“We need the community now to come together and really put their money where their heart is and help our club raise $30,000 so we can help continue to raise awareness about the issue of mental health and suicide prevention both on and off the field during 2017,” Mr Rovelli said.

“All you have to do is show your support and make a financial donation to Change the Game via the Mackay Cutters Facebook page.

“Everyone who donates will be rewarded with home game tickets and the knowledge that they are doing something positive about suicide prevention in our region.”

Mr Bogaarts hopes that his company’s sponsorship, the MRSPN logo over every player’s heart and the community Change the Game initiative will help encourage our whole community to start talking about mental health openly.

“Mental health and suicide is a very emotional subject and the people being impacted come from all walks of life,” Mr Bogaarts said.

“As a community we must develop tools to support people to build the resilience to survive through the most difficult times.”
