It’s a long way from the dusty fields of Karratha in Western Australia to the lush green fields of Gatton, Queensland.

However, young Karratha Broncos rugby league player Manunui Tito was determined to further his playing skills and made the trip to attend the recent NRL Gatton Holiday Camp hosted by NRL Development Central Queensland.

The aspiring NRL hooker/halfback’s father found the camp online at the PlayNRL website and after making contact with local NRL Game Development Officer and Camp Convenor Jim Stevens, Manunui was on the plane to Brisbane followed by a car trip to Gatton.

Although he only has one year of playing experience under his belt so far, Manunui was eager to participate in the coaching and game sessions and also wanted to challenge himself against the Queensland camp participants.

After experiencing four days of camp (and then enjoying a further three days with Jim’s family on the Sunshine Coast), Manunui had only praise for the level of coaching and generosity of Jim and his family and the all-round camp experience.

Manunui has already marked down the dates for the 2017 camp and has said he would highly recommend the camp to his rugby league team-mates back home and suggest they join him for another great experience.
