With two North Queensland Cowboys teammates standing on the opposite side of the field this weekend, there are bragging rights on the line for when Matt Scott returns to Townsville.

Linnett was a member of Scotland's campaign in 2013 while Coote is making his Test debut in the historic first meeting between the two countries.

Like captain Cameron Smith, Scott is unfamiliar with the majority of the Scottish players but says there are two in particular he is excited to be coming up against.

"No, not much, apart from a couple of the guys from the NRL that I've seen and a couple that I've played with but I'm sure they're going to be coming out and trying their best and their hardest," Scott said of his knowledge of the Bravehearts.

"If we don't take them seriously then they could do some real damage.

"[Coote] and Kane Linnett are really enjoying the vibe and the culture over here and it's a great opportunity for those guys to represent Scotland.

"Hopefully I can get out there and ruffle Cootey's head up a little bit on a kick return."
