Registrations are open for the Falcons Footy Kidz – Rugby League for Children of Different Abilities program based on the Sunshine Coast.

The program is for girls and boys between the ages of 5-16 who are living with challenges such as asthma, autism, Asperger’s, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, emotional, social, neurological and/or psychical disabilities.

The children involved train and play modified rugby league via this specialised program, which assists in developing social and motor skills for children with challenges.

Coaching is provided by qualified NRL Game Development staff who work alongside Sunshine Coast Falcons players in a safe and supportive environment.

The first training session will start on Friday, March 3 and will run from 4.40pm-5.30pm. This year, there will be eight training sessions and four combined training / games sessions at Sunshine Coast Stadium (TBC).

All dates and times will be available on the Falcons Footy Kidz calendar which can be found HERE.

Queensland Maroons forward Matt Gillett is a proud supporter of the group and is set to attend a number of sessions this year, as will fellow ambassadors Chris Flannery and Kerrod Walters.

Falcons Footy Rugby League for Children of Different Abilities co-ordinator Nadine Hoffman said it was fantastic to have him involved with the kids.

“We are really lucky to have Matt as our ambassador as he is one very generous guy, amazing with the kids and a real credit to the NRL,” Nadine said.

*Please note, there is a $30 registration fee for the full season and parents/guardian are required to remain at training at all times.
