A new club has come to town in the Northern Districts Rugby League this season.
With a downturn in employment at nearby industrial city Gladstone; Agnes Water and Miriam Vale have combined their player numbers to become the Northern Force.
With this scenario, the League now has a five-team competition with defending premiers Avondale, Gin Gin, South Kolan, Burnett Heads and newcomers Northern Force battling it out for the premiership trophy.
This will remain the current setup until each club can stand alone once again.
Despite the difficult circumstances, the Force have shown they will be a strong contender for this year’s honours after three rounds of competition.
All Northern Districts clubs have recruited well and there are set to be some upsets throughout the season with all the clubs worthy of winning the big dance.
NDRL Chairman Rob Redfern and his committee have done a great job with their competition and are looking forward to a strong representative season ahead.
All players will be keen to make the NDRL Bulldogs representative squad for the annual trial games against Central Burnett Rugby League and South Burnett Rugby League to be held in Gin Gin on Saturday, April 8.
A Northern Wide Bay Rangers squad will be selected after these trials to play in the annual QRL Central Division 47th Battalion Carnival to be held on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 in Yeppoon.
