With just under a month until this year’s Central Division 47th Battalion competition, the South West Mustangs Women’s Rugby League team are preparing to make a difference after experiencing recent success.

Following back-to-back B Grade premierships for the Toowoomba Fillies in the South-East Queensland Women’s competition, the Mustangs hope to showcase their recent club success at a representative level and prove how dominant Women’s Rugby League is in the South West.

To achieve this, the Mustangs will be holding trials for any women interested in pulling on a South West jersey at this year’s carnival.

The trials will take place between 1-4pm next Sunday, April 9 at Valleys RLFC (Pillar St, Toowoomba).

The trials are open to all registered players including those who wish to be considered for the Central Division Emerging Women’s Program.

The newly announced Emerging program has proved to be a success with well-attended talent camps held at the weekend in Emerald and the Sunshine Coast.

Sadly, the Central Queensland camp (which was to be held in Gladstone this weekend) has been cancelled due to the heavy rainfall from ex-TC Debbie.

Despite the cancellation, interested players from Gladstone and Rockhampton will still have the chance to impress selectors at the upcoming 47th Battalion carnival in Yeppoon, as will any players who missed any of the four scheduled talent camps across the Division.
