The Burleigh Bears prevailed over derby rivals the Tweed Heads Seagulls in Round 6 of the Under 18 Mal Meninga Cup last weekend.

The Bears – led by two tries from Liam Hori-Clark 2 proved too strong, securing a 32-26 win in a closely-contested match.

Two early tries set them on their path to their second victory, with the home side going on to enjoy a 16-4 lead at the halftime break.

The Seagulls fought hard in the second half with four tries, but that was not enough to overcome Burleigh.

This weekend, the Bears have a bye, while Tweed Heads will travel to Bishop Park on Sunday to face the top-of-the-table Norths.

However the Devils will be smarting after suffering a heavy loss last weekend against the Souths Logan Magpies, going down 43-28.
