The Redcliffe Dolphins continued their impressive run this season after beating the Norths Devils 22-12 and extending their winning streak to four in a row.
“I thought we defended pretty well right across the park,” Dolphins head coach Adam Mogg said after the home win at Dolphin Oval on Sunday (May 21).
“We only let in two tries, and one was off a well-executed kick by Norths. I knew it was going to be a physical game, and that side of things was pretty good.”
The Phins Tyson Gamble, who recently signed a contract with the West Tigers, led the charge with three tries and the same number of conversions.
Benji Marshall (the 2010 Golden Boot award winner) also added to the Redcliffe offence with a try of his own.
“Tyson did some really good things carrying the football, as did everyone,” Mogg said.
On the Norths end, Delouise Hoeter had the team’s only two tries, and Jack Miers ended the match completing both of his conversions.
The Devils were the just the latest victims of the Redcliffe attack, as the Dolphins are coming off a streak beating the Mackay Cutters, Souths Logan Magpies and Sunshine Coast Falcons.
Now the Phins are in recovery mode as they prepare to hit the road to take on Tweed Heads Seagulls on Sunday.
“Our last game was kind of physical, and with the heat, many guys lost a lot of weight,” Mogg said.
“We will recover for the next couple of days and start preparing for Tweed on Wednesday.”
The Dolphins face the Seagulls at Piggabeen Complex on Sunday, May 28. Kickoff is at 1.40pm.
Meanwhile, the Norths Devils will host the Sunshine Coast Falcons at Bishop Park on Sunday. Kickoff is at 3pm.
