Maroons skipper Cameron Smith is set to chalk up his 40th Origin match at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night, May 31. He talks to Peter Psaltis about the milestone.

"I won't deny I'm very proud of what I've been able to achieve at this level," Smith told QRL Media.

"And my wife, my three children, and my parents and brother and sister are very proud of what I've been able to do to.

"(But) it's always been about what's needed for the team, it's not about milestones or anything like that. Game I is vitally important for this series for our side and our state, so I just want to concentrate on that and getting away to a good start."

Smith also spoke about:

- His debut: a 36-6 victory where he scored in the corner

- The importance of having 31-game Origin warhorse Nate Myles on the field

- New Maroons Anthony Milford and Dylan Napa

Wednesday's clash will take Smith to 90 Origin and Kangaroo call-ups in total.
