A strong return to the field from William Zillman was not enough to push Tweed Heads to their second win of the season, with the home side going down to Easts Tigers 28-16.

Starting at fullback, the Titans player scored a try in his comeback match since re-injuring his calf in Round 3.

The Seagulls started well against their highly fancied opponents, with Eddy Pettybourne crashing over in the opening minutes.

They had the visitors on the back foot again soon after when Lindon McGrady scored to give the home side an unlikely 10-0 lead.

However, the Tigers soon worked their way back in with tries to Jarrod McInally and Adam Crear in the 10-minute period before halftime, which saw the scores locked a 10-10 at the break.

The Tigers clawed their way in front when impressive young half Brodie Croft crossed in the second minute of the second half for the first of his two tries of the afternoon.

From there, they were never headed – despite Zillman’s reaching out to score with 12 minutes to play.

Next week, the Seagulls will play Redcliffe in the TV match, and Easts are also at home and will host the Souths Logan Magpies.
