Before the the first State of Origin match kicked off, Channel 9 helped set the tone for the game and the series ahead with their pre-show opener.

QRL Media went behind the scenes to find out more about how Channel 9 help build the hype for their State of Origin broadcast.

We spoke to Alex Rolls (Network Executive Producer Sport) to see how a shoot comes together and the process that takes place from concept to broadcast.

This year's filiming included a lot of fire to help symbolise "The Cauldron" - the popular name for the home of the Queensland Maroons, Suncorp Stadium.

Queensland four debutants for Game II - Tim Glasby, Valentine Holmes, Jarrod Wallace and Coen Hess - will get their turn to experience filming with fire before next Wednesday's game.

Rolls also spoke about some of the innovations that have been introduced to the telecast this year, including the placement of GPS trackers on the players.
