Ezra Tuli added an extra four points just before halftime, giving the Magpies a 10-point lead at the break. Despite being on the back foot, the Jets were boosted by a first-half double to Daniel Iopu.

Jets five-eighth Shar Walden put on an impressive performance in an attempt to get his team into the game, with a second-half double. It wasn’t enough, however, to stop the Magpies, who laid an extra three tries on the opposition before full time.

It was an important win by the Magpies, who face the competition’s ladder leaders the Norths Devils on Sunday morning.

Devils v Magpies

The Devils, who lost on the weekend by two points to the Easts Tigers, will be looking for redemption against the inform Magpies, who have won three of their past four outings. It’ll be the first encounter between the two sides this year, but it’s shaping up to a close game between the two teams.

Jets v Tigers

Looking ahead to the rest of the round, the Jets face the Tigers, who have performed strongly throughout the season. The previous time that the two sides clashed, the Tigers outclassed the Jets 56-6, with Rahkeem Auda scoring a hat-trick in the win. It wasn’t until the last minute that the Jets were able to get on the board with Junior Vaitai softening the loss.

Dolphins v Falcons

The rest of round nine proved to be an exciting one, with the Dolphins getting the win over their tough competition the Sunshine Coast Falcons 28-20, enabling them to move into second place on the ladder.

Mustangs v Bears

The Western Mustangs were able to defeat the seventh-placed Burleigh Bears 18-16 on Sunday, with Daniel Dean bagging a double. Goal kicking was the defining factor in the game, with Burleigh unsuccessful in all attempts at conversion while Wally Pegler was able to slot all three through for the Mustangs.

Tweed v Wynnum

It was an afternoon for the Tweed Head Seagulls to remember beating the Wynnum Manly Seagulls 42-20. It was all about the backs on Sunday, with Seagulls fullback Tre Williams scoring a hat-trick, whilst wingers Jack Conlan and Jaxson Paulo both grabbing doubles.

With the finals fast approaching, each game is becoming more important, with points for and against the differentiating factor between three of the four sides.
