Queensland Women’s prop Heather Ballinger played 30 minutes of Sunday’s Interstate Challenge game with a broken hand.

The Jillaroos prop came off the field 20 minutes into the first half after sustaining two breaks to her hand in a tough opening to the match.

However, she came back onto the field to help her team out after forward leader Renae Kunst was ruled out of the game after failing her HIA assessment.

Despite her injury – she was still able to make 21 tackles and also made six runs for 48 metres.

For the Queensland Women, halfback Ali Brigginshaw topped the metres with 117, while hooker Brittany Breayley (35) and forward Steph Hancock (33) made the most tackles.

The NSW Women claimed the 22-6 win and had strong performers across the park including lock Simiana Taufa-Kautai who again impressed, making 234m for her team.
