Wattles play Pittsworth tomorrow night in the minor semi final whilst Valleys take on Dalby for the first spot in this year’s grand final.

Wattles Warriors v Pittsworth Danes
Minor Semi Final
7pm Saturday, August 19
Clive Berghofer Stadium Toowoomba

Wattles play Pittsworth this weekend, with the loser eliminated from this year’s competition.
Pittsworth are the only side remaining who played in last year’s finals.
The competition has stepped up a notch this season, mainly due to the shorter season and more teams being in contention.
Matt Duggan and Jackson Green are the key for Wattles.
Both had games they thought they could have played better last weekend, but quality players stand up in these games and I expect nothing different from these two, especially given they have a quality forward pack in front of them.
The Danes also have a quality forward pack; therefore, I expect these packs to cancel out themselves.
Daniel York and James Dempsey are the key for Pittsworth, especially Dempsey as he has the best high ball in the competition and knows a few of his opponents on the weekend did drop of few of Dwayne Duncan’s high bombs in last week’s elimination final.
All in all, it will be a shame that one of these sides will exit the competition as they are very exciting to watch.
I’m tipping Pittsworth for a couple of reasons; they have had this combination for a few seasons now and Dempsey’s high ball … but Matt Duggan may have something to say about that.

The Obee and Cookie Call will be live from 6pm.

Valleys Roosters v Dalby Diehards
Major Semi Final
3pm Sunday, August 20
Clive Berghofer Stadium Toowoomba

This is the game the competition has been waiting for.
Why? Because it will show us where each side sits in the pursuit of the title.
We saw last year’s teams in this equivalent game meet in the grand final two weeks later.
This contest is a little bit different.
Each side have big boppers and I expect them to go at each other in a brutal affair and you would suggest that whoever loses will be up against it given the expected brutality of this match.
Injuries are becoming a key factor in these finals, just ask the other contenders, but in saying that, each side have fit players peaking at the right time.
The only slim advantage is that Valleys’ spine have been playing week-in, week-out for most of the season.
I expect Brett Seymour to stand up in this match and guide his side as well as taking them head on.
Steve Franciscus and Corey Blades are the key for Dalby.
The big three (Wardrop, Green and Manley) will look after themselves, but big-name players stand up in these matches.
The representative footy period did affect Dalby, but I reckon they will be jumping out of their skin as they had got just what the doctor ordered - an easy, injury free, trek to this match.
Additionally, their combinations have had time to fine tune.
Dalby were world beaters early in the season and have the pressure off in this game as they have nothing to lose as the underdogs.
This contest is shaping up as a great game and if it is like any of the other finals games, then we are in for ride come Sunday.
I’m tipping Valleys, just.

The Obee and Cookie Call will be live from 2pm.
