Jim Stevens will return to guide young up-and-coming Murri players, having been reinstated as the Queensland Under 15 / Under 16 Murri coach.

The role will see the NRL Development Officer again take the reins of the team following his appointment to the role last season.

Earlier this year, the young side suffered a close loss to the NSW Under 16 Koori side in the game played as part of the Awabakal All Stars Interstate Challenge weekend at Newcastle.

However, they won one of their two games played as part of their tour to New Zealand.

This year’s Queensland Representative Murri Under 15 / Under 16 team will be selected from the upcoming Arthur Beetson Foundation Queensland Murri Carnival.

The carnival is being held this week (from September 20-23, 2017) at Dolphin Oval.

All players have to complete a “health check” as a requirement to participate and all Under 15 Boys participants must have attended school 90% of time.

Stevens will be joined on staff by assistant coach Sawere Reuben who has an extensive history coaching men, women and juniors in North Queensland.

Further details on where the team will tour and next year’s event will be provided once details are confirmed.
