The PNG Hunters defied the statistics to earn their hard-fought win in the Intrust Super Cup grand final.

The 2017 champions missed a whooping 45 tackles and made 19 errors and also had less possesion than the Falcons.

However, they were able to fight to keep themselves in the game, with Willie Minoga going over for a last-gasp try.

Despite it being a scrappy match overall, there were a number of stand-out performances from both sides, with Falcons hooker Brandon Smith making a game high (by some margin) 59 tackles; while his team-mate Tui Kamikamica made 44 and missed none.

Falcon Justin Olam also was the highest metre getter in the game with 174m, with Hunters fullback Stargroth Amean the next best with 165m.
