An unacceptable number of missed tackles cost the PNG Hunters dearly in the Intrust Super Championship, with the Penrith Panthers proving too good at ANZ Stadium this year.

The Hunters – who defied the statistics in the Intrust Super Cup grand final to defeat the Falcons – were overrun by an experienced Panthers team in the first half.

Big Panthers centre Tony Satini topped the metre count with 265m to go with his four tries; while NRL hooker Mitch Rein made the most tackles for the match with 45.

For the Hunters, centre Adex Wera made three line breaks to lead the metres for the Hunters with 131m, while skipper and five-eighth Ase Boas was the highest tackler for his team with 31.
