The Queensland Pacific Island Cultural Carnival will be held this weekend with an array of talent and passion set to be on display in what has become a highlight of the rugby league calendar in south east Queensland.
Once again supported by the QRL’s SEQ Division; the three-day tournament will be held at Beenleigh’s Bill Norris Oval (on Boundary Street), with rugby league fans invited to come along and enjoy the experience.
The carnival celebrates the cultural heritage of Queensland-based Pacific Island people and all games are played in a respectful manner.
The opening ceremony will be staged at 6pm on Friday (October 27), with games taking place throughout Saturday (October 28) and Sunday (October 29) – including finals.
The countries and cultures being represented at the tournament will be:

Indigenous
Maori
PNG
Samoa
Tokelau
Niue
Tonga
Torres Strait Islands
The participating age division are:
Under 14 Boys
Under 16 Boys
Under 18 Boys
Open Men
Open Women
The Women’s division was introduced for the first time last year and was a great success; and this year sees a big boost in numbers, with eight teams participating in the division.
As well as many exciting rugby league games; the weekend will also highlight the food and culture of the participating nations and will be a family-friendly environment, so all are welcome to attend.
Entry fee is gold coin donation for children aged 14 years and under; while adults are $5.
