A Facebook post from Queensland Rugby League superfan Mike Simpson has put things in perspective ahead of Sunday's 2018 Intrust Super Cup grand final between Redcliffe and Easts.

With two clubs from the former Brisbane Rugby League contesting the decider, Simpson uploaded a selection of his prized BRL fridge magnets from the 1980s – but there was a notable absence.

"I bought these at the old QRL store in the Myer Centre," Simpson said.

"I am missing the Wests Panthers one as I gave this to my mate Mike Higgison when he was in hospital."

Original 80's BRL fridge magnets. I bought these at the old QRL store in the Myer Centre. I am missing the West's Panthers one as I gave this to my mate Mike Higgison when he was in hospital. Great memories.

Higgison, 51, was a larger-than-life historian, commentator and fanatic of the Intrust Super Cup who lost a very short battle with an aggressive brain tumour earlier this year.

'Higgo' (pictured below) said it was his dying wish to be on the sideline at this year's final.

The father-of-three regularly commentated big games in the Intrust Super Cup and Brisbane Rugby League, and will be remembered by the live stream team of the curtain-raisers to Sunday's big game.
