THE Ipswich Jets have booked a semi-final showdown with the Mackay Cutters after toppling the Wynnum Manly Seagulls 33-6 in yesterdays elimination final at BMD Kougari Oval.

Ipswichs emphatic victory ended the Seagulls bid for a third-straight Intrust Super Cup title, a goal that looked quite achievable after the baysiders dismantled the Northern Pride in the final round of the regular season.

However, the Seagulls couldnt re-produced the same form yesterday against the Jets, who made the early running on the back of impressive displays from XXXX man of the match Nat Neale and livewire fullback Javarn White.

Ipswich stunned the hosts with first half tries from Rod Griffin, White and Brendon Marshall, who landed all three conversions to put the Jets in front 18-0.

The Jets nearly added a fourth try on the stroke of half-time when White went tantalisingly close to getting over for his second of the afternoon.

But the Jets were able to add to their points tally when Marshall booted a penalty goal for a 20-0 advantage at the break.

Spurred on by a vocal home crowd, the Seagulls came out with renewed vigour in the second half and were rewarded with a try to Corey Norman from close range.

But the Seagulls were unable to break the line again as the Jets steadied before producing a classic counter punch with a superb try from Matt Parcell.

The young hooker swooped on the ball in the in-goal after Ian Lacey toed through a Dane Phillips kick behind the line.

Lacey capped off a strong performance for the Jets with a solo try, while Marshall added a second penalty goal before Phillips popped over a field goal to round out the scoring.

The Jets will now travel to Mackay on Saturday night to play the Cutters, who went down to the Easts Tigers 31-18 in their qualifying semi-final.

The winner will be playing for a grand final berth in the following weeks preliminary final against the loser of this weekends major semi-final between the Northern Pride and Easts Tigers in Cairns.

IPSWICH JETS 33 (Javarn White, Brendon Marshall, Ian Lacey, Rodney Griffin, Matt Parcell tries; Brendon Marshall 6 goals; Dane Phillips field goal) def WYNNUM MANLY SEAGULLS 6 (Corey Norman try; Matt Seamark goal) at BMD Kougari Oval.
